If your brand/company is not on Facebook, you are missing out. Here are some NZ Facebook Statistics that will show you why Facebook Marketing is necessary and will also allow you to make targeted decisions if you do decide to do any Facebook Marketing.
Facebook Users as Percentage of Population
(New Zealand – 18 and Over)
Facebook’s global reach is no longer something unheard of with 1.3 Billion active monthly users (1 out of 5.48 people).3 Since 2012, approximately 70% of New Zealanders over 18 have been connecting with each other on Facebook (the biggest of the social media networks in New Zealand). In fact, we love social media so much that we spend close to one full working day a month (7.43 hours) on these social media networks putting us at the top of the list of ‘countries that spend the most time on social media’.4 If you think that social media is exclusively for the young or those under 30, you might want to reconsider:
Facebook Age Distribution
(New Zealand – 18 and Over)
At first glance, it seems strange that the data from Facebook’s Audience Insight over estimates the actual number (according to Statistics New Zealand) of Kiwi’s in New Zealand for the 18 – 29 age group. This can happen due to users under reporting their actual age on social media networks and Facebook itself not updating a users current region. We believe it is more likely to be the former rather than the latter. Nevertheless we can infer that most, if not all, Kiwi’s in the 18 to 29 age group are on Facebook.
